What is symbol time in wireless communication?
In case of a modem, this corresponds to 1,000 tones per second, and in case of a line code, this corresponds to 1,000 pulses per second. The symbol duration time is 1/1,000 second = 1 millisecond.
What is symbol period?
A symbol period is composed of 32 time bursts. Each time slot is defined by 16 chip times. When a symbol has to be transmitted, a single temporal burst is used among the 32 available time bursts. In this burst, each chip time is occupied by a transmitted pulse.
What is symbol and bits?
Symbol is used to map more than one bits and are used to transmit bits over channel after baseband and carrier modulation. Bit rate referred as number of bits transmitted per second. Symbol rate referred as number of symbols transmitted per second. It is also known by "Baud rate".
What is symbol duration in OFDM?
Each OFDM subcarrier is 312.5 KHz. Figure 1: 802.11n/ac 20 MHz channel—OFDM subcarriers. 802.11ax introduces a longer OFDM symbol time of 12.8 μs, which is four times longer than the legacy symbol time of 3.2 μs.
